University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics

Newly renovated Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) adding 24-single patient rooms designed with patient and family comfort in mind. The new unit provides an ‘open-pod’ concept, consisting of six pods of four patient rooms, allowing for more visibility across the unit. The 24,000 square foot unit includes two bariatric rooms, patient lifts in every room, medication rooms, blood gas lab, storage areas, and designed with the ability to perform procedures within the room should an emergency arise.
